Jared met with ADD International.

Jared had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy Innes and Mosharaf Hossain of ADD International. ADD International is part of a global disability movement that seeks to advocate independence, equality and opportunity for disabled people living in poverty all over the globe. Research shows that 1 billion people live with some form of disability – this equates to 15% of the global population. Similar research has also found that 80% of people with a disability live in the developing world. ADD work with a number of disabled people’s organisations across several countries in Africa and Asia. Jared was able to discuss the three main areas of work on which ADD focus: livelihoods, inclusive education and gender-based violence.

Jared said: “Being a strong advocate of disability rights here in the UK, I am very much looking forward to working with ADD International and putting my weight behind the global disability rights movement. It is particularly important that those suffering from disabilities in some of the most impoverished nations on the planet are not left behind”.
